I have a multiple problem that you might be able to help with. I have a backup that gives me a message when I try to restore from it. If you have any information on how to recover the contents of such a backup, I would appreciate it.
I found that WordWorks Pro 2.0 always comes up with Vertical Condensed selected in the page setup for ImageWriter II v4.2. Is there a way to change this so that I won't have to go into the page setup whenever I print with WW 2.0?
I also miss the icons for justification and line spacing in the old WW Pro. Any chance of that feature returning in the future? I do like WW Pro. My kids use it for all their report writing and I am rather fond of it myself. I usually choose it for my writing instead of AppleWorks or AWGS, both of which I have.

Supply me with more information on your backup problem and I may be able to help you. For example, what program were you using to backup, etc.?
WordWorks Pro purposely sets the vertical condense. Because of the way fonts work on the GS this option is available to get the correct aspect ratio when printing. You should always use it when printing text.
We removed the icons for two reasons: in order to remove the ╥toolbar╙ and free up more screen space and because they just weren╒t used that often. In any case, future versions of WWPro will bring the toolbar back complete with the old icons (and some new ones!). In these future versions the toolbar will be independent of the ruler, so you can have one, both or neither visible.
Don Strang of Roseburg, Oregon, had problems with the TrueType¬ fonts in AppleWorks GS. I had a similar hanging problem when I am in AWGS Word Processor mode and I go to change a font. My problem happened when I used the Choose Font option instead of scrolling down the font selection and highlighting a font. Specifically, Pointless seems to be disabled after doing this. I have Pointless v2.0.1. I actually had to shut down the whole system all the way and boot all over again for Pointless to be back online. I will point out that it not only disabled Pointless for AWGS, but all others (including WordWorks Pro v2.0). I use my 20 MB CMS hard drive as my system drive and have the above programs installed on it. I also am using Finder with System 6.0. This may be a problem corresponding with Pointless v 2.01?!
I have not had this problem when I use WordWorks Pro v2.0 and I do a similar Choose Font command.
One other problem: The Installer script for Don╒t Forget desk accessory created a separate folder called Desk.Access instead of installing the Don╒t Forget DA into my Desk.Acc folder in my System folder on my hard drive. This needs to be corrected. It was no problem for me to fix, but some users will obviously be lost or need help. Thanks.
Will your Spell Checker NDA work with AWGS in the Page Layout mode? Will you folks PLEASE do a review on the new Modem communication program called Spectrum? It is the first GS specific program I╒ve ever seen in a catalog. It is touted in the latest issue of Enhance from Quality Computers. I do love the Don╒t Forget NDA, keep ╒em coming!

I╒m not really sure what could be wrong with Pointless. Your best bet is to contact WestCode╤╤they╒ll be more likely to know what is wrong. I do know that a new version is available (2.0.2) that fixes some problems.
The Don╒t Forget mistake was mentioned in Tech Support Notes in past issues (I╒m curious╤╤does anyone read this?!? <grin>.)
The spell checker most likely will not work with AWGS in page layout mode. At least not in its first incarnation.
We plan on doing a head-to-head review of Talk Is Cheap 4.0, ProTERM 3.1, ANSITerm 2.0 and Spectrum 1.0 (once it ships).
I can╒t get anything from Softdisk G-S to print until I return to Finder╤╤I have Express! Is there a compatibility problem?
I used the installer to copy the PSGS letterheads to my hard drive. PSGS couldn╒t find the file. And then I tried to get it straight from the SDGS disks╤╤PSGS still didn╒t find the letterheads!

Express will not print until you leave the Softdisk G-S shell. The problem is ours, not Express. The Print Manager is not started up when Softdisk G-S is running╤╤sorry. We will fix this in the next rewrite of the shell╤╤hopefully in the next year.
To use the letterheads in Print Shop IIGS:
1) go to Letterhead
2) select Design Your Own
3) select Full Panel Graphic
4) select From Other Disk
5) show it where they are and finish the specifications
I wanted to just print out a portion of the text in Diskovery file╤╤couldn╒t bring it into AW or ShadowWrite. Can it be done?

On many issues of Softdisk G-S, we use a special format for our issue text (known as, well, Softdisk issue text). We do this in order to save disk space. Andre Horstmann in an upcoming version of ShadowWrite will support Softdisk Issue Text. The latest versions of WordWorks Pro, EGOed and EGOed Lite also support Softdisk Issue Text.
How about a review of Computer Eyes╤╤is it any good? HyperStudio is the best program. I recommend it. You can be creative and also have lots of fun.
My monitor now seems to have alot of interference; streaks through the screen. Is this a big expense? Who can fix it╤╤any electrical repair shop or must it go back to the dealer?

I like Softdisk G-S, I can╒t wait for my next issue. Do you know of a terminal program that emulates an IBM 3101 or V1100 that has an answer mode? I╒d like to call a computer and then have it call me back and the program answer the phone.
Also disk #40 of mine was messed up every time I ran something in it. The mouse would only work in the left half of the screen.

Call Softdisk Customer Service at 1-800-831-2694 and ask for a replacement disk for issue #40╤╤they╒ll send it right out.
Two programs that may support your telecomm needs are Talk Is Cheap 4.0 and ProTERM 3.1. I suggest contacting Quality Computers and InTrec Software and asking them.
